Americas Social Forum
The Americas Social Forum will be held in Quito, July 25-30. Get Ready!
Go to the webiste to register: (www.forosocialamericas.org), or contact the Ecuador YMCA. We have the following activities planned for the Forum:

  • The forum “Another America is Possible with Children” , Tuesday, July 27, beginning with a music festival, photo exhibition and painting workshop. We will hold a panel disussion on the Impact of Globalization on Children: violence, migration, child labor, exclusion and discrimination. In the afternoon we will hold a dialogue with Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Argentine human rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, followed by an annoucement by the children to the Forum. At 6:30pm, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel will give a conference on the topic of children and globalization. On the morning of the 28 in the morning we will hold a workshop to define ways to organize and strengthen the movement for children’s rights in the Americas. The YMCA is working with other organizations and inviting 100 children from Ecuador and Colombia to attend.
  • Quito branch director Henry Betancourt will speak about child labor at an event at the Salesiana University in Quito.
  • Ecuadorian youth from Youth Camp will come to Quito to participate in the Forum.
    During the forum will have the pleasure of visits and participation of youth from YMCA Peru and Caterina Milani from YMCA Montreal.
